Gay: This is my mother who took me into her life at the age of just a year. She nurtured me and gave me a home.  She sewed me cute clothes for me and for my baby dolls.  We were always matching.  She taught me to cook and clean. With this nurturing I grew up and was a self sufficient and taught others to become independent and self sufficient.

Marilyn: This is my aunt and she was a great person and to this day she is a great person.  She always talked to me positive and respected who I was.  She respected that I had my own soul and it did not matter that I was not the same.  I felt trust and sincerity from her. She always made me feel special.  Anything I told er I was doing she always had something positive to say about it even if she did not agree.  The influence that she had on me is that it is alright to agree to disagree. She has this affect on all 8 of her children and others that she has contact with.  She always was optimistic. With this i always think and do my best to treat others the way she treated me because it made me feel so good about me.
Barbara: This was my next door neighbor and she was a great influence because she took me under her wing and I had a sense of belonging.  She had little children and I helped her take care of them and I actually felt more of a family with her than at my home.  She empowered me to take on my life when I would tell her about my dreams.  She was there when I was sad and felt that I was being put under the shaft at home.  She was positive and I really think that we grew together. I grew to know that everyone needs someone and I try to be there for others as she was for me.

  1. I enjoyed looking at your photo's. I have only recently been introduced to Taffy! YUM! A friend and colleague always brings back a packet from the US for my daughter, needless to say, i find them irresistible. What a novel idea to make Taffy at a birthday party. I find it interesting that you had three strong women who have inspired you.

  2. Hello Tracy,
Thank you for sharing your family. I agree with you whole-heartedly that everyone does need someone to be there no matter what. For me that person was my mother up until the time of her death. Thankfully, I now have my siblings who I have grown very close to be that person. As a teacher, I hope that I am a source of support and encouragement for my children.
