Issues and Trends

There were many issues and thoughts that came to my mind when reading this assignment.  There is so many different ways to obtain information on issues and trends and what is happening in the early childhood field.  I searched the Internet and referred back to my own resources of people that I have come in contact with.
I feel that it is important to explore all aspects of early education. Whether it be public education, child care, preschool, or many other programs. There are similar and related issues that can be shared and collaborate with others to create a positive experience and to create the win /win for all.
I decided to research the International Day Care Organisation. (http://www.ifdco.com).  Their mission is:
To establish an international network of members involved in Family Day Care
To hold an international conference at a maximum 3 yearly intervals.
·         To facilitate an international exchange of information, ideas and methods for the development of Family Day Care through a quarterly newsletter, email and web page.
Within the organization I am seeking to correspond with three different leaders from three different parts of the world:
Grace McDonald         Austrailia      grace@pfcs.com or gracemcd@tpg.com.au
·         Patricia Murray           Ireland              pmurray@childminding.ie
·        Maggie Simpson        Scotland           Maggie.simpson@childminding.org
At this time I have only had correspondence with one of these colleagues.  I will strive to get the information that I need, for I think that it is important to hear all sides of  programs.
I am studying the World Forum Foundation as an alternative if I cannot contact the people I want to.(http://worldforumfoundation.org/wf/wp/about-us/)  I have worked with them on a small scale and I would like to learn more and hear what they have to say on issues as well.  This sight is a great resource. Their mission is:
“The mission of the World Forum Foundation is to promote an on-going global exchange of
ideas on the delivery of quality services for young children in diverse setting.”
I am excited to correspond and find out new information.

  1. Hello my dear Tracy! I too was disappointed to see that you were not in my group this time. I feel that we have really established a connection. I like how you are keeping your mind open to the different resources and looking at the big picture. I think it is a valuable skill to have. I look forward to reading about your information too. All the very best in this course and remember to take care of yourself too.
