The National
Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) http://www.naeyc.org has an abundance of information in many
diverse categories.
I do not receive a newsletter
from this association. Most information located in a newsletter like dates of
conferences, board issues, member issues and other information is posted on
line. What the association mails out to
the members (also available electronically) send out a journal named Young Children. In this publication
there are many useful articles to read about hot topics, the journal also has
resources for parents to get assistance in different areas. Some of which our discussion has been on
equity for all. I have referenced back
to a journal that I received in 2009.
The Journal is filled with articles and resources for supporting and
involving families in meaningful ways.
Having this information available is resourceful for the studies that I
am studying in my education and to assist me in my teaching position as a
professional.
As I am involved in different
associations for my profession, I found that there is a spot that has all
professional associations related to the education field on a list
alphabetically and a live link so all I have to do is click to visit the
sight. Therefore, this gives me more
resources to read if I need. NAEYC also has an annual conference that
educator’s throughout the country meet and talk about such topics like equity
and how the nation can resolve some of these hot issues.
As I searched through the site, I didn’t find anything
specifically on the information that we are talking about. There were different links through the
associations that I could find that information. Inside past and present journals and
publications available on line as a member, there was some interesting
information that would relate to the subject of equity.
I believe that this
certain website (NAYEC) is very resourceful because of the other links to other
professional associations and other research to support what I am looking
for. I use this website in many areas of
my life both professional and personal.
As I was revisiting the website of NAEYC I found this link to be quite beneficial. http://www.naeyc.org/tyc/links/families

ReplyDeleteTracy,
ReplyDeleteIs there a particular link or section on the website you find to be most useful or that you use the most?
The two links that I mentioned above are beneficial to family support and DAP. I really enjoy and use the entire website along with the publications that they send me.
ReplyDeleteTracy, I also searched the NAEYC website and the current conference is on Developmentally Appropriate Practices. This should help teachers and care providers ensure that all children receive excellence in their learning opportunities.
